Study on the Production of Protease by Thermophilic Actinomycetes from Korea

Abstract
Protease activities of thermophilic Actinomycetes which were isolated from various habit-at substrates collected througout South Korea were measured. The cultural conditions of the best strain in protease production were investigated.
1. Among the 90 strains of thermophilic Actinomycetes isolated, strain number S68-2 was selected as the predominant strain in acidic, neutral and alkaline protease activity.
2. The composition of effective medium for alkaline protease production by S68-2 strain was 3.0% soluble starch, 1.0% peptone, 0.05% MgSO4 ? 7H2O, 0.15% K2HPO4, 0.01% On Cl2 . 21120 and 0.002% FeSO4 ? 7HO.
3. S68-2 strain exhibited the most remarkable protease. activity when it was grown at 50¡ÆC for 24 hours with rotators- shaking.
